Boston Marathoners Hit By Lethal Bomb Attack; Three Killed, 170+ Injured

The close of the Boston Marathon race today was marred by a dual-bomb attack at the finish line, killing two bystanders and injuring hundreds more.  The celebrated Boston Marathon, which attracts upwards of 30,000 runners and spectators annually from all over the world, was thrown into scenes of panic, fear, shock and chaos.  As of this time, no one knows who is responsible or why the perpetrator(s) committed this heinous, cowardly act of terroristic violence towards innocent people.

The internet and social media reaction has been very vigorous and ongoing since the bombing occurred around 2:45 p.m. EST.  Concerned patrons, family members and friends have been using Twitter and Facebook pages to post and receive updates, find whereabouts of missing persons and offer assistance to everyone affected by this tragic event.  Thankfully, many compassionate and kind-hearted souls are stepping up to assist and give humanitarian help in the wake of this senseless, violent act.

For a nation still grieving after the Newtown shooting, violence has once again reared its ugly head.  From the Bible's prophetic perspective, these things are a sign of the last days, and portents of still greater woes ahead.  With His eye fixed upon our times, Jesus declared that "as it was in the days of Noe [Noah], so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man."  Luke 17:26.  In Noah's times, the whole earth was filled with violence.  "The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence."  Genesis 6:11.

Will there ever be an end to the carnage, the murder, the inhumanity of humanity against humanity?  The end of all this senseless tragedy, death, heartache and sorrow, will come when Jesus Christ comes the second time in power and righteousness.  "As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world.  The Son of man shall send forth His angels, and they shall gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; and shall cast them into a furnace of fire; there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.  Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father."  Matthew 13:40-43.  Indeed, Christ's return is the only hope for a doomed planet.  Let us therefore hold on to hope, and watch and pray to endure until the end.  The coming of the Lord draws nigh.  Our prayers are with the citizens and city of Boston and all the marathoners and their families.  Amen.
