Don't Pass Out!

"And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not." Galatians 6:9

Let's get back on our faith grind today. Ignore all the distractions to working your faith and keeping the faith. The challenge is to keep praying, keep trusting and keep working for the Lord of the harvest until we shall reap the harvest of what we have sown in faith. So don't get tired though the work gets hard. Don't allow frustration or anxiety to rob you of your resolve, energy and focus. Don't allow circumstances or haters to discourage you. Your heavenly Father loves you and is faithful to bring everything that He has promised you to pass. If your day does not go as you planned, remember God is in control of your life. Commit your all your plans to Him, trusting that He Who sees the end from the beginning has an eternal plan for your life that cannot fail! Eternal life with Jesus is your destiny. Claim God's sure promise and by faith …

Why the Church Lacks Real Power

"Ye adulterers and adulteresses! Know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God." James 4:4

I read this insightful commentary on why the church has so little spiritual power today:
"Commenting on the present attitude of professed Christians toward the world, a leading secular journal says: “Insensibly the church has yielded to the spirit of the age, and adapted its forms of worship to modern wants.” “All things, indeed, that help to make religion attractive, the church now employs as its instruments.” (White, 1888). The church, desperate to curry worldly favor and prominence, has lowered Christ's holy standards to make Christianity conform to pop culture. Preachers preach sermons that entertain and delight, but fail to lift up their voices like a trumpet and show the house of Jacob their sins. Every aspect of the church's worship is made to cater to what's the fa…

An Atheist's Confession

My disbelief in God began in a Catholic high school biology class.  Before that class, I had a vague sense that there was a God in heaven Who made the world and the planets and all life.  At least that is what I learned from my nominal church attendance and what my parents taught my siblings and I.  So one day I am sitting in my biology class, and my teacher begins to teach us Darwin's theory of evolution.  Now if I was vague about the existence of a Creator God before, I was definitely confused now.  And this teacher, who was very likeable and knowledgeable, even he admitted that he believed in some sort of quasi-theistic combination of God creating plus evolution, leaving me with more doubts than ever!  I didn't know what to believe about God or anything after that.

I remember going home to my parents and sharing my perplexity with them.  I don't really remember how they responded, but I just recall that their rebuttal did not have much of an impact.  That was not their…

Motivational Quote of the Moment

There is no defeat in life except in giving up trying. "I can do all things through Christ Who gives me strength."  Phillipians 4:19.
