Keep Climbing Higher!

And you shall remember that the Lord your God led you all the way these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you and test you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not. 3 So He humbled you, allowed you to hunger, and fed you with manna which you did not know nor did your fathers know, that He might make you know that man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord. 4 Your garments did not wear out on you, nor did your foot swell these forty years. 5 You should know in your heart that as a man chastens his son, so the Lord your God chastens you. Deuteronomy 8:2-5, NKJV

Your mountain of adversity is God's University which prepares and equips you for your life's destiny. So study God's word diligently, learn to pray fervently and trust Him relentlessly. You will be blessed to pass each and every test. Just look to Jesus Christ, He's the One , He's the best. He&#…

Daniel and Revelation Unsealed!

"But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time if the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased." Daniel 12:4
"And I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud; and a rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire: and he had in his hand a little book open . . . and the voice which I heard from heaven spake unto me again, and said, Go and take the little book which is open in the hand of the angel which standeth upon the sea and upon the earth. And I went unto the angel, and said unto him, Give me the little book. And he said unto me, Take it, and eat it up; and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey: and I took the little book out of the angel's hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter. And he said unto me, Thou must prophesy…

Colonial sins return to haunt former world powers: Commentary

Colonial sins return to haunt former world powers

I read this article with interest because I believe in social justice and in restoring those who have been wronged.  While there is literally no amount of money that can begin to compensate the victims of inhumane, cruel treatment, torture, rape, and brutality, the concept of restoration and reparation is a symbolic gesture in which the perpetrators freely acknowledge their wrongdoing and seek to make their victims and/or their survivors and descendants, whole.

God has a controversy with the nations over their crimes against humanity.  It will be seen in the final day of reckoning that the Lord has not lightly passed over the injustices and abuse of power that those in power have committed.  He commands all men - and nations - everywhere to repent and restore the oppressed, the afflicted and downtrodden.  In his eyes, we are our brothers' keepers, and we must give a faithful account of all that we have done, or neglected to do, f…

Why the Church Lacks Real Power

"Ye adulterers and adulteresses! Know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God." James 4:4

I read this insightful commentary on why the church has so little spiritual power today:
"Commenting on the present attitude of professed Christians toward the world, a leading secular journal says: “Insensibly the church has yielded to the spirit of the age, and adapted its forms of worship to modern wants.” “All things, indeed, that help to make religion attractive, the church now employs as its instruments.” (White, 1888). The church, desperate to curry worldly favor and prominence, has lowered Christ's holy standards to make Christianity conform to pop culture. Preachers preach sermons that entertain and delight, but fail to lift up their voices like a trumpet and show the house of Jacob their sins. Every aspect of the church's worship is made to cater to what's the fa…

An Atheist's Confession

My disbelief in God began in a Catholic high school biology class.  Before that class, I had a vague sense that there was a God in heaven Who made the world and the planets and all life.  At least that is what I learned from my nominal church attendance and what my parents taught my siblings and I.  So one day I am sitting in my biology class, and my teacher begins to teach us Darwin's theory of evolution.  Now if I was vague about the existence of a Creator God before, I was definitely confused now.  And this teacher, who was very likeable and knowledgeable, even he admitted that he believed in some sort of quasi-theistic combination of God creating plus evolution, leaving me with more doubts than ever!  I didn't know what to believe about God or anything after that.

I remember going home to my parents and sharing my perplexity with them.  I don't really remember how they responded, but I just recall that their rebuttal did not have much of an impact.  That was not their…

Motivational Quote of the Moment

Motivational Thought of the Moment - Love the Greatest Motivator

Unconditional love is the most important of all motivational factors in life.  "Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.  Love never fails."  1 Corinthians 13:7, 8.  Love keeps you going when all else fails.  It overcomes intolerance, fear, poverty, ignorance, pride, fear, discouragement, adversity, indifference, persecution and even death.  Love truly conquers all.  "For the love of Christ constrains us."  2 Corinthians 5:14. Christ, Who is by far the greatest Motivator forever, gave the greatest love the world has ever known, and ever will know.  His love has been the inspiration and motivation for the greatest acts of self-sacrifice, altruism and beneficence of humanity toward humanity.  "Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends."  "For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.  For scarcely for a righteous man will one die:  yet pera…

Precepts for a Successful Life

True success is not measured temporally but by spiritual endowments.  Here are some precepts for a successful life:

Love all people, always, at all times, with all that you have.

Unselfishly seek to be the greatest good for the greatest amount of people possible.

Keep your vision above the stars and your feet firmly upon the ground.

Share all of your gifts unstintingly and unconditionally with all who would cheerfully receive them.  Pray for those who fail to recognize and appreciate them.

Everyone born on this planet has the potential for great good.  Look for the good in everyone and everything, and you will find it.  Don't go looking for the evil, for that search will be rewarded in infinitude.

Live your life as one who shall have to make a reckoning with the Sovereign God at the end.  May you be able to say then, "I have fulfilled your will for my life," so that you shall receive His eternal approbation:  "Well done, thou good and faithful servant."

Motivational Moment - Keep on Running

Do your best imitation of U. S. Olympic sprinter Manteo Mitchell, who ran his leg of the men's 4x400 relay - on a broken leg.  Most of us would have given up because of such an injury and setback.  But Mitchell willed himself to keep on running in spite of his circumstances and made it to the finish line!  Let's all be encouraged to keep on running the race of life, no matter what!  Despite adversity and opposition, keep on running.  Despite the toil and the pain, keep on running.  Despite setbacks and snares, keep on running.  Keep your mind focused on the goal and don't stop until you've reached it.  Don't deny your struggles, but embrace them and endure all things, believe all things, hope all things.  Your humanity may give out; but don't let your Spirit give in.  Keep on running, for "I can do all things through Christ Who gives me strength."  Philippians 4:19.

Please support this ministry. Thank you.

Motivational Quote of the Moment

You can weigh the relevance of your influence by the impact you have on people's lives for time and for eternity. By that standard, Jesus Christ was and is the most relevant Person, ever.

Motivational Quote of the Moment

Sow the seeds of good words and deeds today, and you will reap a good crop tomorrow. "For whatever a man sows, that will he also reap.". Galatians 6:7. "So don't get tired of doing what is good. Don't get discouraged and give up, for we will reap a harvest of blessing at the appropriate time." Galatians 6:9, New Living Translation

Motivational Thought of the Moment - Opportunity Knocks

Don't wait for opportunity to knock on your door.  Get up off your daydreams and start knocking on opportunity's door until opportunity gets up and answers!

The Right Mix - Hebrews 4:1, 2 (Sermon snapshot)

The Right Mix Hebrews 3:14 – 4:2 “For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end; While it is said, Today if ye will hear His voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.  For some, when they had heard, did provoke:  howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses.  But with whom was He grieved forty years?  Was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?  And to whom sware He that they should not enter into His rest, but to them that believed not?  So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.  “Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.  For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them:  but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.”

Faith is the critical element that must be mixed with the hearing of the gospel that moves one from being a mere…

Motivational Quote of the Moment - Prevailing Prayer

If you have so much responsibility to uphold and so many important decisions to make, you must be instant and steadfast in prayer.  Let nothing distract you from the most important - and productive - appointment of all:  crying out to God in earnest, fervent prayer.

The Faith I Live By: Isaiah 55:11

"For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.  For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:  so shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth:  it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it."

God Challenges Us to Trust in His Word
Our faith depends not upon our emotions or moods, which are changeable and tertiary, but upon the unchanging faithfulness of our God and his unchanging word.  He cannot fail, and His word likewise can never fail in the purpose for which it sent it forth.  His promises are sure, "for all the promises of God in [Jesus Christ] are yea, a…

Extravagant Worshiper

Extravagant Worship
"Now when Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the Leper, there came unto him a woman having an alabaster box of very precious ointment, and poured it on his head, as he sat at meat.  But when his disciples saw it, they had indignation, saying, To what purpose is this waste?  For this ointment might have been sold for much, and given to the poor.  When Jesus understood it, He said unto them, Why trouble ye the woman?  for she hath wrought a good work upon me.  For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always.  For in that she hath poured this ointment on my body, she did it for my burial.  Verily I say unto you, WheresoeveA r this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her."  Matthew 26:6-13

The Message of Micah the Prophet

Micah the Prophet (740 - 670 B.C.) Introduction Micah (which means in Hebrew "Who is like the LORD?) was born in Moresheth Gath, a small town in southern Judah.  His prophetic ministry spanned the reigns of Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah.  He was a contemporary of the prophets Isaiah, Amos and Hosea.

Micah's prophecy is only seven chapters long in the bible.  But it's pregnant with spiritual and prophetic riches.  With startling clarity and accuracy, the diminutive prophet foretold the impending destruction and fall of both Samaria and Jerusalem as God's judgment against his rebellious, wicked people.  What is particularly striking about Micah's testimony is that he lived to see the destruction of Samaria come to pass in 722-721 B. C.  But it was not until 150 years later that his prophecy pertaining to Jerusalem's fall and destruction was fulfilled, 586 B.C.  See Jeremiah 26: 17, 18; 52.  These stunning fulfillments demonstratively attest to the …

Peyton Siva Glorifies God

He's all of  5 feet 10 inches tall - short by NCAA Collegiate Basketball standards. But he's got mad hops, as this video will attest. He is the floor general, the starting point guard and co-captain of the University of Louisville Cardinals, a team that has exceeded the expectations of many this season by making to the Final Four of the NCAA basketball tournament (they will face their biggest challenge when they face the #1 ranked overwhelming favorite, the Kentucky Wildcats, tomorrow night). Few will disagree with the assertion that Peyton Siva has been a huge reason why Louisville is on the map as this year's Cinderella story. But what most impresses me about Siva is his real, sincere commitment to Jesus Christ.  Please do yourself the favor of reading this great article in the March 28, 2012 edition of the Courier-Journal.  He prays with as much heart as he plays on the basketball court.  And he's always got an assist for someone in need.  God bless Peyton for h…

You Won't Feel A Thing

Rivers Flowing From Your Belly (Devotional Thought)

John 7:37-39, Revised Standard Version "On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and proclaimed, "If any one thirst, let him come to me and drink.  He who believes in me, as the scripture has said, 'Out of his heart [or "belly," Authorized Version] shall flow rivers of living water.'"  Now this He said about the Spirit, which those who believed in him were to receive; for as yet the Spirit had not been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified."

Have you ever felt like you were just going through the motions of your day, week, religion, or life, and seemed to be getting nowhere or not experiencing real joy, growth and satisfaction?  You are definitely not alone.  It is a problem as old as religion itself.  Back in the day, Jesus was addressing a multitude of religious faithful who had gathered in Jerusalem for the annual celebration of the Feast of Tabernacles or Booths, a joyous, harvesttime celebration of God's blessings…
