Driving Without A License

"Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.  For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ."  Jude 1:3, 4

My friend and I came within a second of being in a terrible car accident.  We were driving along and engrossed in conversation when, suddenly and without warning, a dilapidated white van peeled off on the left and came right at us.  My friend swiftly swerved to the right to avoid a collision.  The driver of the van didn't stop.  Nor did he look back to see if the vehicle he just cut off was O. K.  "Blankety-blank illegal!"  My buddy said.  "He probably doesn't even have his driver's license!"

Why So Many Denominations? (part 2)

(continued from "Why So Many Denominations?" Part 1)

The True Church Keeps All of Jesus' Commandments

But the key to finding the right denomination and church to support your walking with Jesus in all of His teachings, is to study all the teachings of His word and find that church that teaches all that He taught.  One of the most important of the teachings of Christ is obedience to the ten commandments.  Jesus said, "If you love me, keep my commandments."  John 14:15.  See also Matthew 5:17-19 and Matthew 7:20-24.   He consistently taught that we should obey the commandments.

The True Church Celebrates Jesus on His Holy Day

Jesus also taught us by His own example to remember to keep the fourth commandment, the Sabbath, holy.  Luke 4:16.  Which of the churches is teaching this?  Jesus said that He made the Sabbath for man, and that He is Lord of the Sabbath."  Mark 2:27-28.  There is not one Scripture to be found anywhere where Jesus changed or invalidate…

Why So Many Denominations? (Part 1)

How many Christian denominations are there in the world?  According to the Center for the Study of Global Christianity (2011), there are over 41,000 denominations identifying as Christian in the world today.  As a thinking person striving to follow Christ and to obey Him in all things, I would want to know which church is the right one to support my commitment to Christ.  That is to say, which church or denomination truly takes all the teachings of the Bible as the rule of faith and presents the Jesus Christ as the only Way to eternal salvation.

Narrowing Down the Options

Trying to choose between 41,000 churches professing belief in Christ and in the Bible is challenging, to say the least.  But Jesus is the Shepherd and Bishop of our souls (1 Peter 2:25), and He has promised to lead us all in right paths as we seek to follow Him.  Let me start off by saying that, in every denomination that teaches salvation through faith in Jesus Christ, you will find sincere believers in Christ who…

Christ Our Assurance

The really good news for today: we have the blessed assurance of salvation through Jesus our Lord, who was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification. Romans 4:25, ESV.

Why This is Good News

We don't have to try and earn our salvation.  Salvation is the free gift of God given to us through His only begotten Son, Jesus.  Infinite love reaches down from heaven and lifts us up out of the pit of sin into which we all have fallen.  Thanks be to God for His unspeakable gift!

"And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made." Genesis 2:2, 3 NKJV Today is the Sabbath of the Lord. Enter into His rest and be glad, and rejoice in all His works that He has made. As we like to say every 7th day of the week, Happy Sabbath.

Equipped for His Service Today

Hebrews 13:20, 21 ESV
Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant,
equip you with everything good that you may do his will, working in us that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

God fully equips His followers with every good thing for His will to be done on earth.  Whatever His service requires today, He presently supplies His servants with.   Our church needed funds to do tract ministry and God blessed one dear saint with money she was not looking for.  She immediately gave God the glory and donated the increase to God's cause.  Hallelujah to The Lord for His blessing in meeting the present need of His workers.
Whatever your need is today, God has already supplied.  Let us rejoice in the Lord right now.  Dear Lord, we thank you and give you the glory for always supplying our present need for your service.  In Jesus' …

8 Quick Facts About Easter

8 Quick Facts About Easter:
1.The word English word “easter” was adapted from the Anglo-Saxon name for the pagan goddess Eastre or Estera.Devotees made sacrifice to this goddess during the month of April, hence the name was transferred to the Passover celebration occurring around the same time.  See also Alexander Hislop's definitive work, The Two Babylons, for further study on the pagan origins of easter.

2.The word “easter” does not actually occur in Scripture. The translators of the King James Version of the Bible supplied the word in the place of the Greek word for Passover, pascha, at Acts 12:4.Modern English translations such as the New King James Version rightly translate this word “Passover.”
3.Easter was not celebrated by the early Christians anywhere in the New Testament.
4.Jesus directed His followers to commemorate His death, burial and resurrection in the ordinances of the Lord’s Supper and baptism by immersion.1 Cor…

The Laying On Of Hands And The Baptism Of The Holy Spirit

Acts 8:14-17
Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John: Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost: (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them:only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.

Have you received the Holy Spirit since you were baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins? We should make no assumption that when we were baptized by immersion (under water as the Bible clearly teaches) in Jesus' name, that we were also baptized into the Holy Spirit.
So the question comes, how does a baptized believer in Jesus Christ receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit? We should begin right where Jesus told His disciples to - with asking God for the gift of the Holy Spirit. Luke 11:13 "If ye then,…

Revelation's Battle of the Beasts: The Lamb Wins

When a Lamb Smacks Down a Lion, Bear, Leopard, and a Dragon!

The first animal that we encounter in the book of Revelation is the Lamb.  The Lamb is the focus of the book, and the reader is to follow the Lamb through the book down to the final episode.

The epic conflict between Christ and Satan plays out its final scenes on earth in the book of Revelation.  In chapter 7 of the book of Daniel, the prophet is shown the world's great empires in succession down through the ages, symbolically represent by various carnivorous beasts.  For example, a mighty winged lion represents the great Babylonian empire.  This lion is followed by a bear, representing the Medo-Persian kingdom that replaced Babylon as the world power.  Then Greece followed, symbolized by a four-winged leopard.  And then there is the non-descript, dreadful beast which had great iron teeth, and was different from all the other beasts before it.

Revelation picks up the struggle in chapter 13 by reviewing the lion, bea…

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Sermon - But If Not

As the prominent leader of the civil rights movement, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. constantly preached and espoused the doctrine of civil disobedience.  This doctrine teaches the principle of disobeying civil authorities and laws which conflict with the higher law of God and His sovereignty.  King did this to encourage peaceful protest against the unjust laws of our nation, laws that promoted racial discrimination and segregation.

In later years, King applied this doctrine in his protest against America's involvement in the Vietnam War, a war which he felt was being fought on unjust and immoral grounds.  Of course, Dr. King's pacifist stance on the war brought him into further disfavor with the status quo.  Nevertheless, Dr. King's advocacy for the cause of civil rights and equal treatment for all citizens regardless of race, creed or color stands unimpugned.

God's Heart Google

"Search me, O El [God], and know my levav [heart]; test me, and know my thoughts; and see if there be any derech otzev [torturous crooked road] in me, and lead me in the Derech Olam [everlasting road]."  Psalm 139:23, 24, Orthodox Jewish Bible.

God has a search engine that does what Google, Bing, Dogpile, Yahoo or no other search engine can do.  God "Googles" our hearts.  He knows perfectly what is in our hearts.  He knows all of our secrets.  He even knows our thoughts long before we form them in our minds.  David's request in this song to El is that He search him, test him and know his thoughts.

Our actions and reactions in different situations reveal what is in our hearts, what our thinking is.  God already knows beforehand what is in our hearts.  So the point of God "googling" our hearts is to make plain to us what is in our hearts.  Our trials are His laboratory in which He allows crises and temptations to draw out of us what lies within our hea…

Pray For More Power

"Ask the Lord for rain in the time of the latter rain. The Lord will make flashing clouds; He will give them showers of rain, grass in the field for everyone." Zechariah 10:1.
The promise of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit is ours to claim. The Holy Spirit will be given in response to the earnest, fervent prayer of faith. The farmer earnestly prayed and watched and waited for the precious latter rain to fall upon his growing crops, to mature and ripen them for the harvest. Shall we be as humble, earnest and dependent upon the blessing of God as was the faithful farmer? The showers of the Holy Spirit will fall upon all who will humble themselves, repent and pray with overcoming faith for the early and latter rain.

Our Heavenly Father, we lift our hearts in earnest prayer for the gift of the Holy Spirit in the latter rain. We confess all of our sins and repent of them, asking for forgiveness and for power to remove every hindrance in our hearts that impedes our re…

Revelation Unsealed: Armageddon, Earth's Last Battle

Revelation 16:12-16 "And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared. And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty. Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame. And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon."

Introduction to the Sixth Plague

Tonight we study the sixth plague of the seven last plagues which fall upon those who worship the beast and his image and receive his mark in their foreheads or in their hands. Recall with me the awful declaration of…
