10 Quick Bible Facts About Jesus and the Ten Commandments

10 Quick Bible Facts About What Jesus Really Taught About the Ten Commandments

1.      Jesus Himself said that He did not come to destroy the law, but to fulfill it.  He would never, ever change or alter the commandments.  Matthew 5:17, 18.

2.      Jesus declared whosoever would break any of the commandments, and teach men to do so, that person would be called the least in the kingdom of heaven.  Matthew 5:19.

3.      When the rich young ruler asked, “What must I do to inherit eternal life?,” Jesus replied “Keep the commandments,” specifically, the 10 commandments spoken from Mt. Sinai.  Matthew 19:17-19, 21.

4.      Jesus consistently taught that we should obey all of the ten commandments.  Please prayerfully read the following Scriptures:  Matthew 4:4, 7, 10 (the first and second commandments); Matthew 12:31, 32, 35-37 (the third commandment); Luke 4:16 (He kept the fourth commandment); Matthew 15:3-9 (the fifth commandment); Matthew 5:21-24 (the sixth commandment); Matthew 5:27-32 and 19:8, 9 (the seventh commandment); Luke 19:8-10 (the eighth commandment); Matthew 5:33-37 (the ninth commandment); and Luke 12:13-15 (the tenth commandment).

5.      Jesus died on the cross for our sins.  Sin is the transgression of God’s 10 commandments of love.  1 John 3:4.  If the 10 commandments were nailed to the cross, and we no longer need to keep them, then Jesus died in vain.  Because if there are no commandments, there is no sin.  And if there is no sin, there is no need for a sacrifice for sin.

6.      James the brother of Jesus taught that we will all be judged by the 10 commandments (the royal law of liberty).  James 2:8-12.

7.      John, the beloved apostle of Jesus, taught that anyone who claims to know Christ, yet does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.  1 John 2:4.

8.      Those who know Christ show their love for Christ by keeping His commandments.  John 14:15 and 1 John 2:4.

9.      Only those who believe in Jesus Christ and keep all of His commandments will have the right to enter in through the gates of heaven.  Revelation 22:14.

10.  One of the identifying marks of those who belong to Christ’s end-time church is that they keep His commandments.  Revelation 12:17; Revelation 14:12.
